LSI Keywords, if you are studying something about Digital Marketing, you will surely have run into this topic (or else you are studying it wrong). But it’s kind of like that. We are always enveloped in a sea of complex and new terms. Every week some innovation appears, so always stay tuned to learn everything that comes up about it.
Inbound Marketing is something that needs to be worked on very well, so it is always good to learn new SEO techniques on-page. So I recommend studying a little more about the 2013 Google update called Hummingbird, it brought the concept of LSI Keywords to life. However, in order to avoid spending a lot of time reading huge documents, I decided to bring you a very simple guide to everything on the subject of LSI keywords. Let’s check it out?
What are LSI Keywords?
First let’s start with this abbreviation here, LSI means Latent Semantic Indexing . Basically this means that each keyword will have for Google an index of keywords that are related to the subject. The main objective was to help in the searches, try for example to write a wrong word or an incomplete term, right after the search that famous phrase will appear: “Did you mean …?”
Well, through various sites and postings that have been running for years on the internet, Google started to understand how basically a certain subject works. So it is possible to find everything in an easier way. After all, who researches guava is hardly doing research related to the topic of imported cars.
But there is another application that is what will really make a difference for us. As the goal is to deliver the best sites on a site to the searcher, nothing is more valid than Google checking before to know if a particular site is actually related to a topic. Come on, if you are going to talk about a certain topic it is important to bring everything that that content can offer.
If you only talk in your text about half of the concepts and important points about a keyword, then it will be quite difficult to reach the top positions of Google.
How does Latent Semantic Indexing (LSI Keywords) work?
I’ll give you an example, think about the keyword “Brazil”, what do you think could be related to the topic? Probably the name of your states and capitals, your political system, currency, population, culture, etc … If you try to create a website with this keyword, but decide to talk only about the political aspects, you will hardly be able to hit the Wikipedia page on the subject, for example.
This is because while you are talking about some isolated aspects of Brazil, the competitor page will bring almost everything about the subject. Now, if you change your “keyphrase” to “political aspects of Brazil” you will most likely have better results. And this will happen because the LSI of this text will change to one more suitable for its content.
And that’s exactly why you should use Long-Tail Keywords (keywords with multiple terms) rather than Head Tail Keywords (keywords with only one term). The more specific your keyword is, the fewer searches you will have, but the content is much easier to write and stand out.
How to use Latent Semantic Indexing?
There are some ways you can find out a little bit about these words to make everything much more attractive, but I already warn you that the ones that are not paid are usually a little laborious. Before leaving them in your text, you need to know what they are, right? Then go to Google and type in your Keyphrase, the results you will see as the variation of your search already inform several of these words.
But calm, very calm at that time, there are still ways to do more thorough searches on the subject. A good way to do this for free is to use Ubersuggest . Since Google relies on the sites with the highest authority to do this word indexing, you need to do a search with your keyword.
Upon receiving the results of the analysis, go to the section of the best rated sites on the topic, they will not necessarily be the first ranked. From there take a good look and check the structures of subtitles, bold and italic text. Also look at the bullet points that are those lists with “balls”. Everything there that is repeated frequently has a great chance of being part of LSI .
It will take you some time, I admit. But this type of strategy also allows you to get an idea of the content to be written. Take the opportunity to bring new information, add themes that you found in one text and not in another. Create a more complete material and maybe your site will be the one that dictates the rules?
There is also the LSIKeywords tool that you can access through this link. however, it lacks support for searches in the Brazilian region. But it can be a good tip for those who create international content. And if you want to know some more SEO tools, click here and I’m sure you will like it.
There is also LSIGraph which is also a free keyword tool to a certain extent (I use it a lot and recommend it), it works as a keyword generator that you can view various semantic words related to your main topic.
Where to insert LSI Keywords?
Well, there is not necessarily a magic formula here, however it is interesting to place them in prominent places. A good place for example is in the Google snippet, but there are interesting options during the text such as subtitles and lists. The first and last paragraphs are also often highlighted.
But what will really matter is that you have them added somewhere in your text. Remembering that we are not talking so much about quantity, but about quality.
Leaving simply by entering terms in your searches to get better results may not be the best idea in the world. After all, Google has already learned to eliminate this type of content from searches.
